At a hospital,
an old woman went into the doctor's consultation
room and confessed to an embarrassing problem.
"I have been suffering from flatulence these
past week and I break wind uncontrollably all the
time, Doctor Tira. Luckily they're silent and they
have no odor. In fact, since I've been here, I've
released no less than twenty times already. What
should I do?"
After examining the woman, the doctor scribbled
on his pad and said, "Here's a prescription,
Mrs. Chanpey. Take these pills three times a day
for the next five days and come back to see me again
next week." Then the friendly nurse in attendance
led Mrs. Chanpey to the dispensary and clearly jotted
the doctor's instruction on the back of the prescription
chit for her

before she left
the clinic.
The following week an upset Mrs. Chanpey marched angrily
into Dr. Tira's office. "Doctor, I don't know what
was in those pills, but the problem has become worse!
I'm making wind just as much, and now they even smell
terrible! What have you given to me?" "Calm
down, Mrs. Chanpey," said the doctor soothingly.
"Now that we've fixed your sinuses, we'll start working
on your hearing! Your complaint is due only to your diet
and is not serious. I saw that you had a sinus problem
that is obviously cured now that you can smell again,
but we still have your hearing problem that we will have
to attend to next. You made such loud noises when you
make wind and I have had to shout at the top of my voice.
Here's another prescription and stop taking too much garlic.
Youll be well again in no time." |
